I came to the western slope of Colorado after living 27yrs. in central California and 2 1/2yrs. in southern Oregon with a breif stay in Montrose in between. In California my wife Mary and I, married since 1985, owned and operated a commercial cleaning business for 16yrs. while at the same time being involved in a major renovation on our 105yr. old home in the foothills of the Sierras. In Oregon we invested in two homes, one requiring a cosmetic remodel and the other, yet another major renovation. All together we have personally rehabilitated four properties. Having been involved in seven of our own real estate transactions in a four year period, we have become very familiar with the emotions commonly experienced in buying and selling real estate. Our past experiences with buying, selling, and remodeling, as well as the knowledge acquired from providing " final clean-up " on nearly 100 custom homes during our cleaning career has given us insight into the expectations of both buyers and sellers.
        I have explored countless miles of the scenic western slope of Colorado and I am constantly amazed at the dramatic landscapes and endless skyscapes that can be found in any direction. I'm fascinated by the quality of light which intensifies the ever changing colors and textures seen in the mountains, mesas, and canyons. Another aspect that I find very interesting is the presence of so many small towns, each with their own character and rich histories. A drive through the nearby San Juan mountains, with one spectacular view after another is a thoroughly enjoyable assault on the senses.
       The Montrose area has a dry climate. Having lived through many damp and foggy winters I have found this to be a welcome change. From a non native's perspective, the winters here are surprisingly mild with plenty of sunshine, low humidity,and minimal snowfall. Summers are great with occasional thunderstorms and fall, the word awesome gets overused, but it fits. It is no surprise that " America The Beautiful " was written in Colorado.
